I cannot even handle the fact that I get to type those words! It feels like just last year we were complaining about sharing our birthday parties and only getting one cake because of it. There aren't many memories I have in my early childhood that didn't include Becky. She was my first real test run at having a sister before I was blessed with my step-sister and I always called her my good twin. She was the student athlete who was apart of 500 different clubs and teams, where I was more of the creative free spirit who didn't really listen to instructions. lol. But nonetheless, despite the differences of our upbringings, whenever we were together, more than anything else, I remember the laughter. So much so that I would go home feeling like I had a six pack because of how hard we would belly laugh. It was fitting that the day we did her pregnancy announcement shoot, that same laughter (a very loud & obnoxious laughter from both of us) permeated through MSU's garden as we made our way to different settings, trying to soak up the little bit of nice weather we had left before Michigan would eventually fall into a grey, cold fog for the winter.
From the second she told me she was pregnant, I knew I wanted to get her in front of my camera so when she asked me to do her announcement photos, I JUMPED at the opportunity. Becky & Kurt were a dream come true to photograph. I mean just wait until you see this gallery. I truly don't think they could've taken a bad picture! Which made my job a whole lot easier. haha. No but in all seriousness, these two were the dream kind of clients to have, open, excited, funny & patient. I honestly couldn't have asked for more out of them and I promise I am not just saying that because they are my family.
The beauty of doing shoots like this for family, is that I get to stick around to watch what happens after the shoot ends. I watched as they found out that their first child is going to be a beautiful baby boy, (hell yes boy mom!) and I can't wait to see what kind of parents they turn into. 20 bucks says Kurt is the good cop! (love you Beck, hahah)
This has been a long time coming for these two & I am confident that no matter what, this baby is going to be loved wholeheartedly and unconditionally. What a lucky freaking kid!
Beck & Kurt, THANK YOU for letting me capture these moments. You're going to be incredible parents and I can't wait to meet baby boy in the spring. <3
